Some programs, such as groceries from the food pantry, are offered directly by a number of churches, parishes and faith based groups. Others, including vouchers for prescription medications or maybe emergency money for a rental or utility deposit, are available as a result of partnerships. Some of the programs administered include the following.

Find support including free food and holiday support

An emergency food pantry is available at most local churches, such as Pikes Peak Christian Church. They will try to keep supplies on hand for those facing a crisis, but that will of course depend on donations from the community. There may be on occasion some fresh items as well, such as fruit, dairy, baby formula, and vegetables. Or get free hygiene supplies, detergent, soap, paper goods and more. The items tend to be for people in an emergency need.

When applying for help from a church at the El Paso County free pantry, qualifying guidelines are in place. This is particular true if someone is applying for state of Colorado SNAP food stamps. All of the items from the pantry are only possible as the result of many donors from the Colorado Springs and El Paso County region, including both businesses and private individuals. Volunteers are key to keeping the center running.

Colorado Springs senior citizens can turn to the Brown Bag service from local churches in the region. This is offered in partnership with the US Department of Agriculture. This is only for the elderly in the community and applicants need to be both low income and ever the age of 60. There are dozens of seniors that are given free groceries as part of this brown bag service.

With many clients living on a fixed income or pension, the free food for the senior is distributed the third weekend of each month. Churches does this to try to keep the goods close to then their next check is sent to them, so it can keep the senior fed until the next check comes. Each bag of holiday items provides a meal and maybe a small gift. It also gives companionship during this critical period of time. So this means the senior citizen and their spouse will have a visitor and not feel as lonely.

Children from low income families in Colorado Springs may also receive school supplies during the fall and summer months.
