Free holiday programs, including free Christmas toys, meals or Thanksgiving turkey dinners are provided by several agencies in Delaware. Most of the charities as well as churches that administer these assistance programs only focus on low income families from the immediate area of where they are located, but they may also have referrals. Apply for free Toys for Tots as well as the Angel Tree from the Salvation Army, Adopt a Family Christmas and holiday services, Meals on Wheels in Delaware and more.
Clients to these holiday programs include children, senior citizens, and single moms that are looking for presents for their child. The organizations try to give children, teens and infant free Christmas toys, games, books, clothes, hygiene items, and other holiday joy. Most of the Delaware agencies operate on the Adopt a Family model. This means that volunteers and collections occur in the community, and what is donated will be given to income qualified families. In addition to passing out items such as free toys, games, Legos, video games or books, there will also usually be Christmas or Thanksgiving meals served too.
