Free school supply programs in Cleveland.

During the June through September months there are various free school supply giveaway events in the greater Cleveland area. Students can get everything from backpacks to uniforms, laptops, meals boxes and more. The programs cover both the city of Cleveland itself as well as the outlying counties, including Cuyahoga and others. The list of free back to school supply events below include only some of the options available for anyone in need of help. Additional resources include free clothing closets in the Cleveland region.

Note the programs listed below may not be offered each and every year. It is recommended to call in advance. However, some agencies, such as the Salvation Army in Cleveland, will always provide free school supplies, clothes, book bags, shoes and more every year depending on donations. Many also try to give students from K-12 laptops or Chromebooks for distance learning. Another place to turn to for guaranteed assistance each year is the United Way, as this non-profit also runs annual programs.

Volunteers as well as donations allow these organizations to operate. Therefore, resources vary. But generally, a low income or single parent or a family living in poverty with students in school may be given free “basic” supplies. This can be pens, pencils, book or lunch bags, clothing items, and more. Some events may also provide kids with snacks, haircuts, and address any other hygiene needs. Find more details below on where to go and apply at.

Carroll County Fairgrounds – There is a one time school event that give supplies for kids up to 5th grade. There is also safety information on riding a bus or car to school.

Of course, there are other Salvation Army centers in Ohio that may assist too. They often focus on neighboring counties. They also have free school supply programs as well as give clothes, including uniforms or winter jackets or boots. Find a local Ohio Salvation Army center.
