Free pet food and supplies in California
A number of shelters, non-profits, and pantries in California provide free pet food. What may be offered will vary based on location and what has been donated, but there may be free dog or cat food, supplies like beds or collars, medications, and much more. Find a list of free pet food pantries in California near you below. A major focus is on the low income, disabled, veterans, and elderly who have, or often need, pets.
A number of different organizations may provide assistance to qualified low income families. Free dog or cat food, or other supplies, may be offered at animal shelters, the Human Society, churches, or even free food banks in California. Many of the locations may also provide low cost, or even free, vet care to qualified low income families or the elderly.
As noted, the pet supply and food pantries almost always rely on volunteers as well as donations. If you ever have surplus items, please do give back. Or the locations can be a great place to volunteer at to help a dog, cat, or another animal. Whether it is free food or supplies for your cat or dog, or some basic vet care, there is help out there.
