Free holiday and Christmas assistance programs in Boise area

The Boise Idaho area and surrounding counties are supported by a number of holiday assistance programs, including Angel Tree, Toys for Tots, and Adopt a Family .Find how to get free Christmas toys, holiday food baskets (including at Thanksgiving), presents for kids and more. Many volunteers help run these services to help low-income families. Find places in the Boise ID area that help at Christmas.

Local charities as well as churches will collect and give out free toys, games, gift cards, turkey dinners, and other items so children as well as low income households have a Christmas present to open. There are also resources that may provide a Thanksgiving or Christmas meal. The charities operate in many communities, including Ada, Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, Kootenai, Shoshone, and Canyon County.

The Christmas gifts given away vary. There may be Legos, video games, trucks or dolls, clothes, computers and more. Senior citizens and the home-bound may also apply for assistance such as a home delivered Christmas or Thanksgiving meal. The belief if that every family should have some form of joy at the critical holidays. So these various organizations do their best to make that happen.

Where to get free Christmas gifts in the Boise ID community

Toys for Tots
This is the largest programs that will help Children from low-income families. It is available in Ada County, Canyon, and all nearby areas. The application process is usually set by region in the state of Idaho. However applications can be done online.

The program is run in partnership with the Marine Corps and various charities. Toys, unwrapped gifts, video games, books, clothes, and other goods are donated to it. Kid to Kid

This is a resale shop. They will try to stock Christmas toys as well, and the items are sold at a very low cost. There may be games, electronic devices, winter coats, and more. The charity is really focused on women and lower income single parents in the Boise area.

Salvation Army Regional Cascade Division Stores
Numerous assistance programs are run. There are Adopt a Family gift exchanges, Thanksgiving or Christmas food baskets, and toys. Seniors can get help, and the Salvation Army can also arrange for financial support. There are free Christmas gifts, presents, winter jackets and gift certificates as well.  Or get free Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas food baskets. Boise Rescue Mission - Lighthouse

Holiday assistance includes free Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. This is for families living in poverty and the homeless. There may also be free holiday food boxes, referrals, and a program known as Charitable Assistance To Community's Homeless, or CATCH for children.

The Ada County agency offers everything from school supplies to a Holiday Adopt-A-Family Program. Volunteers are at this charity and support the needy.

Middleton Food Pantry

They can provide Thanksgiving and/or Christmas food boxes to qualified low income families with proof of residency in Canyon County. Referrals may be given to free toy programs as well.

Free Toy services in Boise region are run at several other locations too. These are all either Toys for Tots assistance programs or are separate, charity run ones. Low income families, the unemployed and struggling households can get many types of items, based on donations. Free Christmas toys or food baskets, including at Thanksgiving. Gift certificates, clothes, trucks for boys or dolls for girls, computers, and other free Christmas presents may be offered.

YMCA of Boise
These regional non-profit may be able to help children and teenagers. There are a few centers as follows.

Society of Saint Vincent has several churches that help the poor and families living in or near poverty. There is a “Free Toy Store” in the Boise are for low income families. Mustard Seed Ministries
The homeless can be given a meal. There is also a thrift store and Adopt a Family Christmas program. Families in poverty or the homeless in Twin Falls ID with children may be given a small gift for Christmas morning. Call 208-733-9515.

 

 

 

Additional places for free Christmas gifts or Thanksgiving food
A few other charities and non-profits help the poor, low income, and less fortunate. There may be free Christmas toys for kids, gift cards for parents (including single moms) or meals.
