Christmas and free holiday programs Austin and Travis County.

Children, seniors, and low income families may all benefit from free holiday assistance programs in the greater Austin Texas region. Examples of what may be available from a charity includes free Christmas toys for children, gifts, meals (including at Thanksgiving), food boxes, and clothing items. Some of the non-profit or churches will even provide help to nearby counties that border the area. Many of the agencies are involved in offering help as part of the Blue and Brown Santa program, Adopt a Family, or Toys for Tots in Austin TX.

While most of the Christmas, Thanksgiving and holiday programs are focused on Travis County, there may also be assistance for residents of Williamson, Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Fayette, Hays, Caldwell, Lee, and Llano Counties Texas. Find details below on Toys for Tots, Angel Tree from the Salvation Army and other holiday programs. Some of the leading agencies to contact for toys, clothing, free Christmas decorations, or even at hot meal during the holidays are below. Or look here for other free stuff from the government or charities.

Blue and Brown Santa is one of the main resources available in the Austin and Travis County region. It operates from several different locations in Travis County. It is available as a last resort and can’t be combined with other programs, such as those from the Salvation Army. What may be provided from the Christmas Assistance program includes the following.

Staff and volunteers will match individuals, children, homeless or working poor or entire families in need with local resources. The match may involve non-profit agencies, corporations, churches or individual sponsors. For those families that are able to enroll, they may receive free toys, hot meals, gifts, food baskets, or even gift cards. On site applications are required, as well as proof of need and other conditions.

As donations and resources allow, families from the Austin area may receive a gift card or food basket. Children under the age of 14 who are from lower income families may receive age-appropriate games, toys, or clothing.

While most the Christmas aid is for children, there may be some help for single individuals including the disabled or elderly. They too may be able to receive assistance (such as clothes or food) depending on the donations received. The main application number for holiday help from Blue and Brown Santa is 512-247-2682, or find local contact information below.
