Free school supplies, clothes, and furniture in Worcester County Massachusetts.

Clothing closets, charities, and furniture banks in the Worcester County region can help children, low income families, Veterans and the working poor get free stuff and other goods. Resources include free clothes, work items, Christmas assistance, back to school supplies, birthday toys and winter coats among other stuff. Thrift stores or furniture banks may even have some household items as well, and this can include appliances, gently used furniture, beds, and similar items.

Many families in central and western Massachusetts need assistance, and these clothing closets may be able to help the less fortunate and unemployed get some of their basic needs met. There is always strong demand for winter coats, gifts, and toys for children around Christmas. Some seasonal programs may also operate in Worcester and provide items such as free school supplies, uniforms or clothing to students during the fall. Many other charities may also provide free winter coats for children.

While not as common, some of the centers may be able to offer other social services. This can include job training, financial aid for rent or utilities, and assistance in apply for government aid. Call a local Worcester County center for more information.

In addition to clothing, a number of social service programs are offered. A focus is on housing and eviction prevention. Receive credit and budget counseling too. But a thrift store may have low cost of free household furniture or pass out winter clothes, boots, work attire and more.

Montachusett Opportunity Council, Inc. (MOC)
There are several agencies in the region. The centers offer free Christmas toys, holiday food baskets, work clothing for women, emergency food and budgeting counseling. More information on the Worcester County community action agency.

Gardner Community Action Committee (CAC)

The center provides prescription and housing expense assistance, medical transportation, clothing, and Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance programs. This can include toys for children, clothing, and other needed household supplies. Students may be given free school items too, as well as computers for adults for work.

Salvation Army of Worcester County area
The faith based charity is only for people in the immediate area, including Milford, Hopedale, Worcester, Gardner and Mendon only. A number of resources are offered, in addition to free clothing, birthday or Christmas gifts and a thrift store. Students from K-12 can get free backpacks full of school supplies, including notebooks, hygiene items, uniforms, pens and more. Receive financial assistance for basic needs, such as utilities, rent, and medications.

Holiday assistance (such as Thanksgiving and Christmas programs) are offered as well. The Angel Tree can provide gifts for children as well. They also of course give students from disadvantaged families free school supplies and other items.

Pregnant women, their families and newborns may all receive help. Some of the assistance available can provide formula/baby food, childbirth education, diapers, maternity clothes, and much more. There is free emergency stuff for the low income and single moms in Worcester.

A small clothing closet and food bank are on site. Get free personal or household stuff, groceries and basic clothes. There may be sneakers, underwear, socks, and other needed items. After school and other assistance for students may be arranged too.

The Good Samaritan

Dress for Success

They only help women, including single mothers in Worcester County, get supplies they need for a job. Or an interview. There are free clothes, dresses, pants, high heels, purses, laptop cases and more. The non-profit also provides counseling and other employment resources.

Free Furniture Bank in Worcester County
The Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance runs it. There may be items for low income families, seniors, single moms, and others when moving into a new home or apartment.
