Worcester Catholic Charities assistance programs.

Children, seniors, and families with low income infants in Worcester are the primary beneficiaries of Catholic Charity assistance programs. The organization offers a number of resources for the less fortunate and people who are at risk without help. They administer most of their resources from four primary locations and churches in the Worcester County Massachusetts region.

Christmas and Thanksgiving meals and dinners are offered for home bound elders and people who would otherwise be alone. These individuals will be able to enjoy the holidays, including receiving Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with the aid and companionship of many volunteers.

Home care services are available for disabled adults and the elderly. They can receive home care, companionship, and general support from Catholic Charity volunteers. Find other home care programs for the disabled.

Food, emergency assistance and budgeting is offered. Lower income and working poor families can receive this in order to prevent homelessness. All financial aid is limited, however others may be able to find other basic needs such as useable, wearable clothing at the Catholic Charities boutique in Worcester. Holiday gifts and meals may be offered too.

The Youville House and at the Little Brown House provide people with both shelter as well as transitional housing. Also work with case managers on longer term permanent housing. Catholic Charities is also a place for short term, transitional housing. Many parents and their children will also be able to benefit from the encouragement and instruction of parental aides.

Programs for children, including adoption programs and support are offered. Prospective adoptive families are entitled to get help for a number of adoption services, including legal support.

Education and employment assistance is available in Worcester. Adult learners and the unemployed, assisted by volunteer tutors and teachers from Catholic Charities, pursue educational and life goals through improved literacy. This includes job training as well in Massachusetts. In addition, refugee and immigrant youngsters are tutored after school each an every week by college students through a partnership between the African Community Project and Catholic Charities. The goal is to help families discover strength by building their skills through the Family Resource Center group services.

Immigrants to the region are also supported. Catholic Charities Services helps families and individuals who seek independence and community support learn about resettlement and homeless programs.

Newcomers to the Worcester County region (in particular asylees, refugees and immigrants) who have limited financial means receive free services. This can include medical physicals, lab work and documentation in their quest for permanent residency and US citizenship. This is offered from a partnership of Catholic Charities and St. Luke's Health Center. Immigrants and former refugees find help in their resettlement process. Staff work with you on beginning new lives in the Untied States. This will also involve employment training and hopefully a long term job. Some people participate in citizenship education and while others obtain immigration counseling.

Case mangers at any location will assist neighbors in accessing information and referral services. Get help in completing applications for government aid.

Another focus of Catholic Charities Services is on helping families faced with developmental disabilities or some other disability. Children, teenagers and students with developmental disabilities achieve academic milestones, receive job training and experience their personal best through Mercy Centre's summer program as well as educational services.

Young adult, or the disabled in Worcester, can get help in finding jobs through Mercy Centre's employment services and job training resources. Housing and homes in the region can also be found by Catholic Charities. Or children may be able to receive community based day services. Hearing impaired residents of Worcester find comfort and companionship through deaf ministry.
