Among other services, they provides families and individuals with food, clothing, medical drugs and prescriptions, utility and cooling bill help, rent and shelter assistance when someone is facing a crisis or emergency situations. The Salvation Army DeFuniak Springs Service Unit (phone (850)243-4531) is committed to doing the most good in the community by assisting viable, low income, unemployed, and elderly clients. The social service agency is involved in providing them with shelter, housing and rent help, free food, clothing, utilities and funds for paying energy bills. Health care for low income and uninsured patients
Crossroads Medical Center, which can be contacted at (850)389-3015, is a clinic that delivers high quality primary medical and health care to low-income uninsured adults. The facility will also help by providing other related professional services to low-income as well as uninsured adults who are currently residing Walton Counties through creative collaborative partnerships with local doctors and hospitals.
Emergency and crisis assistance programs
The Walton County community action agency, which is the Tri-County Community Council, Inc. and which can be reached at (850) 547-3689, offers numerous self-sufficient programs as well as help for bills, financial counseling, and advice.
They administer the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The primary purpose of this federal government funded energy bill assistance program is to help qualified individuals meet the cost of paying for heir home heating and cooling bills. The financial assistance is only offered for eligible individuals and households. Additional aid and crisis assistance may also be able to provide utility bill assistance in emergency situations to eligible families and individuals who are without he means to pay for their home energy bills or who are in danger of losing home energy or having their service disconnected during a crisis or emergency.
