Free Christmas and holiday assistance programs Topeka area.

Find where low-income families can get Christmas and holiday help in greater Topeka metropolitan area. Struggling households can get free gifts, Christmas toys, and food food baskets. Assistance from Angel Tree, Toys for Tots and Adopt a Family is available across the region and surrounding towns, including the city of Topeka as well as counties of Osage, Shawnee, and Jackson.

Not only are there presents given out, some charities even offers home repairs to senior citizens and others operate the Angel Tree program (Salvation Army) or toys for Tots in the region.The programs are all community wide initiatives. This means they accept donations from residents and businesses in Topeka, and some of what may be contributed (and given out to clients) is as follows.

  • Christmas presents including free toys, clothing, boots, games, Legos, books, spring goods and more.
  • Thanks and Christmas meals, turkeys, meats, food baskets and toppings.

Christmas Bureau (Shawnee County)
During the Christmas as well as the holiday season, low income individuals, families and seniors living in Shawnee County can apply to the Christmas Bureau. Children can also benefit, and the program allows clients to receive free gifts, toys and a holiday meal from community members, local companies and churches. Residents of Jackson County Kansas only can also apply for free Christmas gifts, toys, and more. There is also help for seniors and disabled adults.

When applying, note that income guidelines apply, and applicants must supply verification documents. The Christmas Bureau will normally start and sign ups for gifts are normally held the last two weeks of October. Please check for the most current schedule and required forms.

A leading, faith based social service agency. The holiday programs include Angel Tree for free toys for children and Adopt a Family. Multiple churches help the poor, low-income and unemployed, both year round and during the holidays. Free Xmas help, small gifts or stocking stuffers and other programs are offered. Topeka Kansas region and Shawnee County Toys for Tots
Registrations are done online. Various partners help run this Christmas toy program in partnership with the USMC. Kids from age 0 to 14 can get free Christmas toys, books, video games, Barbie dolls, arts and crafts, clothes and more. This charity uses volunteers to help do some minor home repairs. They help low income senior citizens and the disabled. Improvements to the home can keep clients warm and safe during the winter and holidays.
