Tampa Bay area families who need rental assistance have a number of charity and government agencies or churches they can call upon for help. Find a list of organizations that provide emergency funds for paying rent, security deposits or other housing expenses. The agencies will in general offer emergency assistance services. Funds are limited though. Rental assistance can also be prioritized for Tampa Bay and Hillsborough County Florida families who are faced with family and/or child safety concerns. St. Vincent de Paul There are a couple of parishes. A number of financial assistance programs are offered from the Hillsborough County SVDP. They include Housing Payment Assistance, which can include rent and energy bill help. Churches and other religious organizations are part of this charity organization. Section 8 housing choice vouchers There are a couple different public housing authorities in Hillsborough County that take applications. These are income based vouchers that pay a portion of the rent for qualified low income households. The apartments, homes, and houses are affordable, income based.
