  • The Emergency Shelter Program, also run by Catholic Charities, is offered in the wider community to provide assistance to help move individuals/families from homelessness to self sufficiency. Among other resources from the program, it offers emergency shelter to permanent housing. Another partner organization is Hispanic Apostolate Catholic Charities (dial (504) 310-6873). This group can address emergency needs, including housing. Much more is available for the low income and working poor in Louisiana as well.

Covington Housing Authority runs the section 8 voucher program for St. Tammany Parish. HUD HCV vouchers can be issued that can help pay a portion of your rent. Rouquette Lodge offers help to seniors in the form of housing and affordable apartments. The non-profit also works closely with Catholic Charities on income based units for older people. Location is 4300 Highway 22, Mandeville, Louisiana, call 985-626-5217.

Safe Harbor of Covington (call (985) 626-5740) offer assistance and homeless shelter for victims of domestic violence. Also get information on legal support, rent programs, transitional apartments, and more in an effort to get resettled.

St. Tammany Parish and SE Louisiana Free Legal Services is a volunteer, non-profit driven law firm. Low-income and/or senior citizens who rent an apartment, that are facing discrimination or eviction, can get free legal aid.
