While most of the non-profits do have an application and intake process, the clothing and free furniture distribution centers will do their best to provide free items (or vouchers) to those that are struggling. Examples of what may be offered, as donations and resources allow, are as follows. Charities or churches may offer free “general” clothes (such as coats, boots, shirts) and some sites offer specialized goods. For example, some of the free clothing closets or thrift stores in the Chatham County region may provide school supplies, uniforms, birthday toys for children, or backpack for students.
