Southeast Missouri Love Inc assistance programs.

Over 20 churches in the Southeast Missouri region partner together as part of Love Inc. to provide assistance to the needy and low income. There is a particular focus on helping the senior citizens, elderly, and disabled in the region.

While Love does not directly provide aid themselves, the charity provides referrals through its Clearinghouse service. Assistance is available in Cape Girardeau County, Jackson, as well as northern Scott County, and the main services administered are below.

Referrals to financial support

Based on the referral process, and if the resident is found to be qualified, volunteers from the local churches or faith based groups can provide the assistance that the family needs, provided they have the resources.

Some of the main faith based groups that are part of the network include Abbey Road Christian Church, Cape First, Bethel Assembly of God, CrossRoads Fellowship, Immaculate Conception, First Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau, Mount Auburn, St. Andrew, Cape Bible Chapel, Zion United Methodist Church, and about 20 others.

Any help from Southeast Missouri Love is normally as a last resort. They also focus on one time emergencies, and the charity, and its church partners, are not involved in providing a never ending hand out. So people seeking support should have explored other private and government programs in Cape Girardeau County first, before calling on Love Inc.

Clothes, furniture, and household supplies

Clothing and basic household items are passed out by “closets” and thrift stores. They may have free clothing for children for school, or basic household goods. There is help for the homeless and poor that are moving into a new home, and Southeast Missouri Love Inc. and its partners can offer appliances, house wares, beds, furniture and more. Seasonal assistance can be from programs such as Winter Coats for Kids. Christmas gifts and toys from the Salvation Army, and other Love partner agencies.

A gap ministry may also have has free baby diapers, cribs, and other supplies for new moms and their infants. Any items are strictly for low income families that are found qualified by the Love Clearinghouse. In a crisis, there are cases in which a volunteer will hand deliver the items to the new mom if they can’t make it to a church or ministry. Find other free crib programs.

Southeast Missouri Love soup kitchens and food pantries address hunger in Cape Girardeau, Scott, and Jackson County. This can include free meals to the hunger, or churches also operate food banks and some centers are client choice facilities. Fruits, canned soup, vegetables, and more are served to the needy.

This is always a focus, and Love will put special focus on feeding senior citizens, children, and parents. They will also work closely with government agencies, such as social services, on advocating for long term hunger prevention in the region.

Repairs to homes can be coordinated by churches and volunteers. In some cases, there may even be some work done on cars by local mechanics, and that will be for employment reasons. As far as home repairs, this may be for seniors, installing ramps for the disabled in Scott County, patching roofs, and more.
