Assistance from St. Vincent in Santa Clara California.

Assistance programs offered by the St Vincent De Paul Society Of Santa Clara, their churches and volunteers are extensive. The charity organization supports people of all religions and backgrounds, and can offer financial assistance, free food, help paying for basic needs, and spiritual guidance. Dozens of churches and hundreds of volunteers work with the Society in the Santa Clara and the San Jose California region.

The services and assistance programs offered by a local conference will vary. However each location is focused on serving those in need, including low income seniors, families with children, and the most vulnerable in society and Santa Clara County. Some of the primary assistance programs administered are below.

Type of financial help and free items from Saint Vincent de Paul parishes

  • Emergency Services and financial aid is offered by St. Vincent of Santa Clara. This resource is run by an all volunteer group within the parish churches. While limited, it can provide financial assistance for paying bills such as rent, electric, utilities, food, and other basic needs. A home visit is often required.
  • The Day Worker Program, can help low-income, underemployed, and lower skilled, mostly immigrant men find temporary work in the region.
  • Another job program is Vocation Mentoring. This can assist people by helping them acclimate to the job market in northern California. Among other services it will provide them with a long-term mentor volunteer.
  • In-Kind Distribution offers automobiles, free clothing, furniture, household items, food and other basic necessities to the needy.
  • Housing referrals. The society of Saint Vincent tries to help with referrals to affordable housing, homeless shelters in Santa Clara County, as well as rent or mortgage programs.

Much of what the parishes will do is give out “in-kind goods”, which is really free or low cost stuff. This can help a low to moderate income family get established, as it free up their income for paying other bills. St. Vincent in Santa Clara County relies on donations for this. Also find a wide variety of other free goods.
