Help paying rent in Northampton County Pennsylvania.

The region is supported by several housing authorities and other organizations that low income families and individuals can turn to when they need rental assistance. Case managers, social workers, and other specialists can advise local residents on their options and help them apply for a wide array of housing and rent programs. The main goal is to help people who are faced with a crisis pay their rent and avoid homelessness.

If you are faced with an eviction, or falling behind on your monthly rent payments, then do not hesitate to look for help. Northampton County and many of the organizations would much rather work with you pro-actively in order to prevent someone from being evicted. This is better for both the county as well as the tenant. After all it is much cheaper for the county to prevent homelessness then it is to find new housing and resettle someone.

Also, if it turns out that you just can’t afford to pay your rent over the mid to long term, then many of the non-profit organizations and housing authorities will work with you to find more affordable homes or apartments to rent. They may also offer self-sufficiency services such as credit counseling and job training.

Public Housing can be arranged by the Emergency Shelter Allowance, welfare department. They can help facilitate and find low income housing that is both safe, affordable, and that will meet a client’s needs. They can also arrange emergency rental assistance grants for the very low income, working poor, and people who are faced with poverty. All funding is limited and comes with restriction.

The homeless may also get access to funds for paying security deposits or help in locating low income apartments in Northampton. Whether the individual seeks rent help or a deposit, case management is required. Address is 201 Larry Holmes Drive, Easton, Pennsylvania, 18044, 610-250-1700.

VA Homeless Services offers government benefits. These can include an array of services to help veterans and their families live as independently as possible, including housing, transition, case management, rehabilitation and income supports. Office is at 1111 East End Blvd, Wilkes Barre PA 18711, call 610.766.4664. Or click here for additional veteran housing programs.

City of Easton Housing Authority is very similar to above in the type and number of services and resources offered. Emergency rent assistance, section 8 vouchers, public housing, and much more is offered. The address is 157 S. Fourth St, Easton, PA 18042.
