Help with rent in Cleveland County Oklahoma.

Several agencies offer emergency as well as long term rental assistance in Cleveland County. The groups (including churches, charities, and social services) provide loans, grants, cash aid, and other resources to pay back rent or security deposits. There are also section 8 low cost housing, shelters, motel vouchers and other organizations in the Norman region and county – they are noted below.

These agencies are focused on housing needs and paying expenses. The goal is to stop homelessness. This includes back rent or utility bills. There is also moving and rehousing help, such as security deposit assistance or storage cost help. Some charities give free motel vouchers in Cleveland County, or they help veterans, single moms, or the elderly pay their rental or housing costs. Each program varies.

The Community Action Agency of Cleveland County and Central Oklahoma provides emergency financial aid (as funding allows). This includes both rental as well as mortgage bills. The phone number is 405-701-2170. The goal is to stop homelessness (foreclosures or evictions). The agency will give grants as a form of rental assistance from their office at 224 S Chestnut Ave Ste 100, Moore, OK 73160. There are other offices as well. Applications are always needed.

Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers are administered by the public housing authority in Norman. Rent subsidized homes are available and the family needs to pay 30% of their income for housing. There is public housing, self-sufficiency, credit counseling and other services. The non-profit helps the poor and low income, seniors or disabled. Food and Shelter – Homeless Prevention and Rapid Rehousing is located at 201 Reed Avenue, Norman, OK 73069. Main number is 405-360-4954.

Many housing services are offered as part of homeless prevention and rapid rehousing. There is emergency rental or deposit assistance, low transitional housing, case management and more. Many housing resources are focused on families with children, including single mothers.

 

 

 

 

SVDP and St. Mark Catholic Church offers free household items (like furniture) as well as financial assistance. Funds can help with rent, utilities, security deposits, food, fans and other bills. Rent help is contingent on donations – funding. The Norman Church is at 405-366-8070.

Mission Norman pays up to $25 for electric bills or rent (to stop evictions). They also help with employment needs, such as gasoline, from 2525 E. Lindsey, Norman, OK 73071. Financial aid is paid out at most one time per month. Call (405) 321-8880.

Salvation Army of Norman helps all of Cleveland County. There is a homeless shelter as well as emergency rent or electric bill help. There are social services, free or low cost furniture from a thrift store, clothes, and motel vouchers. The office is at 318 E Hayes, Norman, OK 73069. Cleveland County Oklahoma legal aid can be called at 1-888-534-5243 or (405) 557-0020. There is free advice from attorneys. They help the low income, seniors, or disabled stop evictions. Or get help with section 8 rent subsidized homes and other support.

The Department of Human Services in Cleveland County offers cash aid, which can pay rent or electric bills. There is also LIHEAP. ESG grants can also be used to pay back rent, mortgages, security deposits, or other costs.
