Food pantry and free groceries in Rapides Parish.

Residents of Rapides Parish can obtain free food or groceries from a pantry. There are charities, churches and government programs that help feed low-income families, both year round and during a crisis. A box of groceries, hot meal, pet food or Meals on Wheels (among other programs) are available in the Alexandria area. Find a food bank in your part of Rapides Parish.

The assistance is available from locations below and is targeted at families that qualify based on income or that have no money. The food pantries combine immediate assistance along with referrals to long term government support as well as benefits. There is also a phone number at the bottom of the page for referrals to other food assistance programs.

Some of the free food distribution centers in Rapides Parish focus on feeding senior citizens. Others help children, and some of the pantries will assist people of any age or background. Qualified families may be given cereal, rice, soup, beans, dairy and more. New moms, teenage mothers, or parents living in poverty may qualify for baby formula or even clothing for a newborn. Other aid may also be provided to Rapides Parish residents, including from a drive thru food bank that is open daily.

Partnering with De ville Pentecostal Church and benefiting from Buckeye School Food Drives, the elderly are given free groceries. There may be produce, low-salt food, Ensure, and other goods for senior citizens in Rapides Parish, with some local delivery offered too.

Central Louisiana AIDS Support Services (CLASS)

Applicants need to have HIV and/or AIDS. The non-profit will help those in Rapides Parish obtaining the care they need, whether it is food, housing, medical, and other needs. The groceries given out will help meet the nutritional needs of patients.




The needy as well as senior citizens can get help. Emergency boxes of food, groceries, hot meals during the year or at Christmas, and other aid is offered.

They help feed homeless people in Rapides County. Free breakfast, lunch or dinners may be offered with vegetables, meat, and prepared food. Bag lunches can be passed out too.
