Rent help in Platte County.

Rental assistance is provided by several agencies in the Platte County area. Most of the organizations, whether they are charities or faith-based groups, provide support in more than one county. But low income and/or struggling tenants can find help with the following housing needs.

  • -Moving expenses including security or deposits.
  • -Back rent to prevent an eviction.
  • -Unpaid energy or heating bills that are tied to a lease and could lead to eviction if not paid.
  • -Referrals to HUD section 8 rental vouchers, public housing, low income apartments, shelters, and more.
  • -Free legal advice or representation in housing court as a form of eviction defense.

Almost every agency has limited funds available. This means that only a small number of Platte County Missouri families may be able to get housing or rent assistance. However, every effort is made to not turn anyone away from receiving help. Even if a grant or loan is not possible for a certain resident, referrals may be given.

Find the leading agencies to contact for emergency financial assistance below. Families should have proof of income, copies of a lease, proof of benefits such as SSI disability or social security, and more to get a grant for paying their rent.
