Philadelphia region and metro area free clothing closets, furniture, and school supply programs.

Residents of the greater Philadelphia metro area can get help from a free clothing closet or furniture bank. The centers will provide those who qualify with free items, including clothes, school supplies, household furniture, diapers, appliances, computers, or winter attire. Or if you are not eligible to receive an item at a reduced price or for free, then the general public can usually purchase gently used clothing and more from a thrift store in counties including Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery and others. Find how and where to get free stuff below.

There are free locations as well as clothes, furniture, and other resources around the entire region, including the counties of Bucks, Philadelphia and Montgomery. Every year thousands of children, seniors, and low income families benefit from the resources made available. Note that the centers rely heavily on contributions so items are limited. Also please do donate if you can.

Some of what may be provided by a clothing closet includes winter coats, professional work attire, shoes, uniforms, laptops or desktop computers and free school supplies as well as uniforms/clothes. Some locations will also distribute gifts and toys around Christmas. Other clothing closets or furniture banks in the city or county may also be able to refer clients to free voucher programs, employment agencies, or other local non-profits or charities.
