Struggling families can get emergency help from Our Lady of Lourdes Church. The financial assistance programs as well as free stuff is only for a limited region, namely the North Babylon, West Islip and Bay Shore region. Applicants for rent, energy bill help, or other social services need to live within the parish boundary.

The money and resources from the Lady of Lourdes Church are raised by donations from the community. There may be bake sales held in Suffolk County, fund raisers held, people who tithe money to the church and more. The parish hopes to help prevent hunger and homelessness for parish members who may be in arrears on their rent, mortgages, or utility bills.

Financial aid from Lady of Lourdes

In addition, applicants need to be in arrears (or late) with their mortgage or rent payment, heating or electric bill. As funding allows, Our Lady of Lourdes Church may help with the following.

The Homeless Services Outreach Program by the Lady church a variety of assistance programs that focus on rent, mortgages, and utilities. The resources may also help near homeless individuals and families in the Suffolk County parish area keep their current home/apartment or find new stable housing.

The assistance includes help in meeting basic needs or paying for bills, such as rent. There are also referrals to homeless shelters in the region, many of which are also at partner churches including St. Vincent as well as Catholic Charities. Other forms of financial assistance (including for energy bills or security deposits) may be arranged as well as counseling, case management, and referrals to important resources. Where there is financial assistance available, this will only be used to help people keep their current home; so it needs to be sustainable. Free food from Our Lady of Lourdes Church

There is a free food pantry on site as well as emergency food outreach service. This is meant to feed the hungry, poor, and struggling in the North Babylon, West Islip and Bay Shore area of Suffolk County New York. In addition, free hot meals can be served too.

Based on donation levels, there may be fresh fruits or vegetables, free bags of groceries, bread, pastries, baked goods, baby formula, Ensure for senior citizens and much more. This is a free emergency service from Lourdes Church.

Anyone from parish region that anticipates needing Christmas help for their kids (or for themselves), can turn to Our Lady of Lourdes Church for assistance. Note the application process is early. Note that there are multiple Christmas, Thanksgiving, and holiday programs available, including Adopt-a-Family, meal services, and others

The two resources mostly focus on food and toy distribution. The applicant to the faith based church charity may be able to receive a free Christmas Dinner food voucher. Or a senior may have a meal delivered to their home by a member of the parish, or a child can be given a toy. Families who are in need of help due to special circumstances may be chosen by staff for additional support in some cases.
