New Castle County clothing closets.

Low income families in New Castle County can turn to a local, charity run clothing closet for free items. There also tends to be goods for residents impacted by a disaster, such as a house fire or flood. In any case, based on donations accepted from the community, there may be diapers, clothing and other baby supplies, among other items.

Many of the centers operate via referrals and/or they have income guidelines in place. However if a family does not qualify then they can also shop for items at a low cost thrift store, as there are many of these in Wilmington Delaware as well. Between the clothing closets and thrift stores there may be furniture, school notebooks, dresses for work or suits for a job, and more.

Charities may also help via issuing vouchers for clothes and provide clients access to shower facilities or personal hygiene items. Low income families moving into a new home or apartment can try to obtain furniture and household goods, so much support is available. Staff will also refer clients to additional supportive services in the region.
