Free clothing closets, school supplies and furniture Montgomery County Maryland.

Families in the Montgomery County region can get free clothes, household stuff including furniture or appliances and school supplies for students. There are a number of charities that help low-income families, seniors and the disabled, including free furniture banks and clothing closet centers. A wide range of items are offered as listed below.

Depending on factors including the families need and income, some clients may qualify for free clothes, diapers, winter boots, appliances, bedroom sets, living room furniture, computers, tablets or other supplies. Students from Kindergarten to high school can get free school supplies, backpacks and uniforms too. The thrift stores sell items to anyone from the community, regardless of their income. Or even find free tablets for students.

The centers rely on donations from the community, so please contribute if you can. The clothing closets need items such as coats, backpacks for school, work uniforms and school supplies. Some centers will even have goods like furniture or diapers for new moms. Whatever you donate will either be passed out to or sold to families and individuals across Montgomery County Maryland. If your income is low enough then some people may qualify for a voucher or gift certificate which can be used to pay for the free stuff.

Social workers also provide case management, information, referrals, crisis intervention, phone services and mail. The location also serves as a benefit screening center for government aid. Donate if you can. All items are redistributed for free to the community. Includes goods such as strollers, car seats, high chairs, play pens, cribs, and bouncers. The center may even have appliances such as toaster blenders, ovens, microwaves, air conditioners, or heaters. Catholic Charities
