Good Shepherd Food Bank is the main Feeding America affiliate for the state. They partner with hundreds of local emergency food pantries, government social service agencies and feeing sites to help the low income and struggling people get free food. The non-profit will direct people to a local free food distribution center near them for groceries, produce, government commodities and more.

 

 

 

  • The non-profit also help with applications to government benefits, including SNAP food stamps, USDA free school lunches, WIC vouchers for baby formula and free food for refugees or asylum seekers. Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program (MCHPP) is located at 12 Tenney Wy, Brunswick, ME 04011. Call (207) 725-2716. They are a smaller, regional location for Cumberland County ME. Canned goods, perishable fruits and vegetables, meats, and more may be available. Call for hours and further details.

Feeding America also lists the locations of additional free food banks or pantries in Maine. State residents can call the primary Maine Food Banks at (207)782-3554. This Feeding America Maine center has partnerships and works with numerous other soup kitchens, food banks and pantries that are located across the region and that may be near you. CrossWalk Community Outreach is at 15 Village Green Ln, Naples, ME 04055. Call 207-615-3226. This location serves the towns of Naples, Sebago, Casco, Bridgton and Harrison with free meals and free food boxes. The charity will also offer seniors or single moms free Christmas and Thanksgiving meals, all of which may also be provided.

Salvation Army has multiple locations in Maine. They all have many programs, including a pantry and soup kitchen. The charity works with other local agencies too. There are free food boxes for the poor, seniors on social security in Maine or asylum seekers. Or get holiday food, grocery boxes and other support. Emergency bags of groceries, canned goods, formula, and holiday assistance is offered. Most of this is done so in partnership with churches and charities. Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness has a mobile food pantry reaching multiple tribal regions across Maine. Their mobile pantry regularly distributes free groceries, fresh food such as produce and staples across tribal communities spanning different regions of the state.
