Find help in Lucas County area during the holiday season. Several churches, charities, and other agencies may have free Christmas toy programs for kids, serve meals to the hungry or lonely (including at Thanksgiving), or provide other forms of assistance during the Christmas season. Note the resources, as well as application process for programs such as NW Ohio Toys for Tots from the Salvation Army or Angel Tree will vary widely.
The assistance is targeted mostly towards two groups, but anyone in the Toledo region can apply. Most of the gifts/presents are for children, and meals are for senior citizens as well as families with kids. Some examples of what is provided during the holidays is as follows.

Children under the age of 15, from qualified families, may be assisted. Parents or legal guardians need to apply. Christmas toys, gift cards, toy trucks for boys or dolls for girls, videogames, electronics, and more may be passed out at Christmas.
