Lake County Illinois free food pantries.

Free food pantries, soup kitchens and food banks in Lake County Illinois are available to those who need help. The centers can provide free groceries as well as food in an emergency. Find where to get free hot or cold meals, groceries, and other aid in Lake County near you below. There is help for individuals and families across the region. However the services don’t usually stop there. There is also a free referral number at the bottom of the page for more information.

The programs that are offered will generally acquire products through donations, canned food drives, and the generosity of local members of Lake County, and then distribute it to the needy. Some may also be involved in the direct purchase of food and then distribute it to people who are in an emergency situation. Many locations can also offer some or more of the following.

  • Food stamps and the LINK Card can be applied for at the pantries.
  • Some Lake County food pantries deliver hot or cold meals as well as groceries to people whose age, illnesses, or disabilities make it difficult for them to leave home.
  • Additional locations may offer, or be able to refer people to, resources including housing, clothing, material goods, transportation and utilities for individuals with low or fixed incomes. This is in addition to any food offered.
  • Lake County pantries also often have free hygiene supplies and personal toiletries like laundry detergent, feminine products, soap and other goods.
  • Special programs and assistance may be offered for older adults, people who are homeless, and/or individuals with disabilities who are otherwise can’t provide for themselves and their families.
