Hands of Hope NW basic need assistance programs.

The main services available from Hands of Hope NW involve the distribution of medical supplies and equipment as well as free food. They also offer referrals and have a general mission to assist the unfortunate and disadvantaged members of the Canyon and Ada County community.

The non-profit relies on donations and contributions from the region. In fact, the equipment and medical supplies are donated from hospitals, local doctors and by individuals who no longer need them. These donations from generous members of the community will in fact ensure that individuals have access to any needed supplies.

Free medical supplies and equipment

Low income households as well as doctors that need healthcare items for their patients (whether in the US or overseas) are supplied medical supplies by Hands of Hope Northwest. Typical items that are available as part of the programs offered include the following. Throughout the community, Hands of Hope NW believes in helping low income and uninsured patients. There is help for the disabled as well as seniors and others. All of this is done by the agency sharing necessary medical equipment. They also coordinate their programs with other community resources both locally and within the United States as needed.

Regular donations of supplies for health care needs are given to Treasure Valley and other organizations further afield. If an individual or organization would like to donate equipment that is no longer needed, it is readily accepted at Hands of Hope NW. For clients wishing to borrow, the follow are available as a loan. This means they need to be returned. Patients or doctors can be given Frames (Grab Bars), Bath chairs / Benches, Wheelchairs, breathing equipment, Crutches / canes, Commodes, and more. For people who seek and want to apply for governmental benefits, such as Medicaid, SNAP food stamps, disability, or Medicare, the process can be very difficult and confusing. There are Family Support Specialists who will help clients apply for those benefits and others, like Medicaid, Housing, LIHEAP, or SNAP food stamps in Idaho.  In addition, a client’s designated Family Support Specialist will advocate for them to ensure benefits are received and maintained over time.
