Locate information on free clothing closets and furniture banks in York County Pennsylvania. Several area churches and non-profit organizations provide basic needs such as clothes, school supplies or uniforms, beds, furniture and more to qualified low income families. Each charity is different.

The free stuff provided varies and is based on donations. This ranges from free clothes to maternity items, medical equipment for seniors, furniture for a home, and even back to school supplies or backpacks. Programs are available for a diverse clientele, including children, pregnant women, seniors, and the general population.

Many of the sites are open limited hours and days of the week. Some may require an appointment in advance while other clothing closets are available on a walk in basis. The centers may have winter coats, suits, shoes, items for work, and other basic needs. One focus is on keeping vulnerable children and senior citizens warm. There are even some seasonal type programs in York Pennsylvania, and those include Christmas assistance and back to school supplies. Most of the items passed out are free, but some clients may need to shop and pay reduced rates for their goods.

Many resources are offered. A thrift store sells gently used goods, furniture, and more. Other assistance includes free Christmas help from Angel tree and a large clothing room to those in need. Also offers assistance with holiday gifts for children through the Angel Tree and Christmas cheer programs. Free back to school supplies are given to low income as well as working poor households with students in school.

The Salvation Army provides financial aid too. It has free gently used winter coats for children and adults through the Coats for Kids program. The non-profit also helps children with school shoes and uniforms. The back to school shopping season can pass out free supplies like notebooks, pens, shoes, and related items.
