Free or low cost community health care clinics in Nevada

Community medical care in Nevada is delivered through a small number of large clinic networks supplemented by independent nonprofit federally qualified health centers and volunteer-run free clinics listed below. Most low-income and uninsured residents do not receive care through standalone "free clinics,” but instead through federally qualified health centers that offer sliding-fee programs that operate multiple locations across the state.

The medical clinics generally accept uninsured patients, people with a low-income, and underinsured residents, with fees adjusted using sliding scale pricing. Clinics commonly offer multilingual services and serve immigrant populations. In urban areas such as Clark County and Washoe County, care is concentrated in multi-site clinic systems serving Las Vegas, Reno, Sparks, Henderson, and surrounding communities. In rural Nevada, access is more limited and often routed through county health care clinics, tribal health programs, or regional providers covering large service areas.

While the exact type and the number services will vary, most Nevada community clinics provide primary medical care, preventive services, women’s health care, behavioral health, and referrals to specialists. Many clinics also try to assist patients with enrollment into Medicaid or other government insurance coverage programs, rather than operating as long-term free-care providers. Some also give free seasonal flu shots, can direct seniors or the disabled to free CPAP machines or medical equipment and address other needs.

The list below is just a sampling of the options that are located in Nevada. If you can’t find a center near you, or just want to locate additional health care providers in your town or city, the United Way 211 database at https://www.nevada211.org/healthcare-services/community-clinics/ may have other low-cost or free medical providers listed. There are also separate free or income based community clinics in the Las Vegas region, as that is where most residents live. Note that the Battle Born State Plans provide a new, low-cost insurance option for Nevadans. Local community health centers can help you enroll in these state-subsidized plans.
