There is also holiday assistance available at Thanksgiving, including free meals or turkeys, Christmas food boxes, winter coats, and a variety of presents for anyone in need, ranging from seniors to single moms or dads with kids.

The main agencies to apply to in Erie County for assistance are listed below. What may be offered includes Books, Stuffed Animals, Stocking Stuffers, dolls, electronics, Games and much more. Some of the free holiday assistance programs include:

  • Toys for Tots.
  • Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas meals and grocery/food boxes.
  • Angel Tree and Adopt a Family from the western Pennsylvania Salvation Army Erie operations.

Erie County Toys for Tots is organized by the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve in Erie. There are unwrapped, new toys given to income qualified families for free.
