Free holiday and Christmas help Cumberland and Robeson County.

There are several charities in Cumberland and Robeson County that provide help at Christmas. Children can be given free toys or gifts and families entire meals. There is also a focus on helping military families as well as veterans in the Cumberland County area as well as city of Fayetteville. Find places to get assistance during the Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays, including Toys for Tots program from USMC and Angel Tree applications.

Many of the free Christmas gifts, food, clothes, toys, and other items are given by the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots. The main office is in Fayetteville North Carolina, but is provides help to both counties as well as the city of Lumberton. However there are several other local charities and churches that may also assist. The goal is to try to help every family, no matter their income, get some type of holiday joy in their life. Be sure to apply early as the programs are first come-served.

Toys for tots is a partnership of the Shawn Knisley Marine Corps League Detachment as well as local charities. There are two places that low income households can apply at for this service. Both of them are available across the city of Fayetteville, Robeson, as well as Cumberland County North Carolina. The locations are as follows. the Salvation Army also participates.

Samaritan's Purse – Operation Christmas Child
This Christmas assistance program is only for kids with parents deployed overseas. The non-profit focuses on military families. Free toys, games, Christmas gifts, electronics, clothes, and more may be offered based on donation levels.  Call 704-583-4778.

The non-profit provides free Christmas toys to low income families. A focus is on helping children who live with their grandparents. Games, toy trucks, dolls, books, electronics, gift cards, and other items may be given out. They also provide free food boxes for both Thanksgiving as well as free Christmas and turkey dinners.

The program is known as Thanksgiving Boxes of Love Drive. About 50 families from Cumberland County can get a free Thanksgiving meal each year. Desserts, toppings, and other items are offered.

This is a volunteer run organization with, among other services, a free food pantry and clothing bank. As part of this, there may be Thanksgiving or Christmas food baskets, Adopt a Family for toys or gift cards, Turkey dinners and more. Multiple churches help the poor, lonely, and senior citizens in Fayetteville and Lumberton North Carolina. Everything from Meals on Wheels to the homebound to gifts for Christmas, stocking stuffers, and other support is arranged. They also offer shelter, a year round pantry, and other emergency help.
