Salvation Army assistance programs Grady County and Chickasha.

Social workers from the Grady County Salvation Army help income qualified residents or those facing a crisis, regardless of age, gender, or race. Whether it is a box of free food, Christmas toys for a child, rent or utility bill help, or information on job programs in the Grady County or Chickasha  region, assistance is provided to the best of their ability. The faith based charity is one of the region's leading organizations to turn to for support during difficult times.

The primary programs available to needy families are below. Other than the low cost thrift store, the resources provided are intended to be a hand-up, meaning it is short term relief so the family can get back on track. In order to get the most effective support, the Salvation Army client should explore, and solve, what was causing their hardship to begin with.

Locate financial help for food, free groceries, pantries and social services

On site there are a number of free food assistance programs available. Emergency needs can be met by a pantry as well as Salvation Army food kitchen. However these two services will only help feed a family for a number of days and are not long term solutions.

So while the Salvation Army Grady County free food pantry may help in a crisis, the case workers will also tend to refer the client to other benefits. One of the most widely used is SNAP food stamps, and this public assistance program will help pay for a portion of groceries going forward. Another resource often used by low income parents to pay for baby formula is the WIC program.

The pantry is stocked based on donations from the greater Grady County community. The location will only be able to provide families what they have on site. Some of what is provided, and may be served to families, includes the following. There can be canned meats (such as ham or chicken), Peanut Butter, Cereal, beans, Rice, cereal, milk, baby formula and the like.

Salvation Army of Grady County provides case management to their clients, and others can apply for this service as well. This is the tool used to break the cycle of poverty, homelessness, and dependency on government aid and/or charitable assistance. Using the process that has been created over the years in Chickasha as well as the state of Oklahoma, the client will go through a comprehensive assessment of their needs, challenges, and barriers. Whether it is credit counseling or information on employment services in the community, the Salvation Army staff from the Grady County will try to help.
