Chicago Chesed Fund emergency financial assistance programs.

They only cover the area of  Lincolnwood Illinois.  The charity can provide services to individuals regardless of their religion, race or background. A wide variety of financial and emergency assistance is available and they can help with a number of different needs. Some of the main resources administered are below.

Grants, loans and funds to help pay bills

Direct financial assistance is offered for a number of different types of bills and housing expenses. The aid is focused on helping during a crisis situation and is offered as more of a one-time support. Some of what can be assisted with includes the following.

Utility bill assistance is available from the Chesed Fund. This can help with heating costs during the cold Chicago months or maybe an air conditioning bill during a hot summer stretch. Residents facing a disconnection and that are considered at risk will receive priority.

An Emergency Loan can be issued. Chicago borrowers with limited credit can receive this help too. The charity will provide interest-free, maybe even forgivable long-term loans for paying bills and other needs, such as rent. This is for qualified individuals or families that are in need of temporary help. Find more details on interest free loans.

Eviction prevention and foreclosure help is available. There will be funds to pay a rent or mortgage payment. Those moving or the homeless may qualify for assistance with a security deposit on a new, low income apartment. Case managers will also address the root cause of the situation.

As part of this is rapid rehousing in Illinois. Government grants (from city of Chicago, state of Illinois, and federal grants) help the very low income and/or formerly homeless. There is money for moving or storage costs, rent deposits, housing first placement and other tools used. Find homeless prevention and rehousing in Chicago.

Medical bill assistance from the fund is available for the community, including the low income or uninsured. Providing access to high quality medical and dental care, supplied, and other needs can be addressed by the Chesed Fund.

Other resources are the Car Distribution Program. Used automobiles, minivans, and regular cars may be available in good condition for local families. The charity will also focus on single parents and new mothers. Those that are currently working can get help or referrals from the Chicago Chesed Fund.

For those residents that need information on state of Illinois or federal government benefits, the Government Assistance Resource Division will help low-income families and the poor in enrolling in Medicaid or SNAP. Case managers will help them receive the medical bill assistance and food they are eligible for.

The Division also helps those who are eligible for public health care, such as Medicaid, SSDI disability or Medicare, apply for assistance. There is also a wide array of medical equipment offered, and maybe some vouchers for free prescription drugs, for those suffering from illness.
