Chemung and Steuben County rental assistance.

In an emergency, one time rent assistance may be provided from non-profits or social services in both Chemung and Steuben County. If a family is not eligible, then they can explore other housing programs, ranging from legal aid to support in moving into a transitional home.

The rent help is generally part of a homeless prevention program. This takes a holistic approach to assist residents of this region. It will often combine government grants for rent to applications to section 8 subsidies as well as case management services. All of these resources are brought to bear by the agencies referenced below.

Also, if someone is currently homeless in Chemung County, then in some cases a motel voucher or shelter is available. This can also lead to funding for a security deposit as well as a portion of first month's rent, with the approval of the social worker that is assigned to the case.
