Free holiday and Christmas assistance Central Florida or Orange County

Find where to get assistance for the holidays in Orange County, Orlando, and other counties in central Florida. Locate charities and churches that offer free Christmas toys, meals, presents, Thanksgiving food boxes and other holiday assistance to the less fortunate. Learn where to apply for Toys for Tots, Adopt a Family and the Angel Tree program, among other free Christmas gift giving services in counties such as Orange and nearby cities including Orlando.

Most of the free presents, toys for kids, and holiday food boxes provided are passed out for free to thousands of children and senior citizens as well as single mother run homes every year. There may be Legos, matchbox cars, dolls, tablets, video games or books, clothes and much more. While many of the non-profits that offer help around the holidays are located in the Orlando and Orange County region, other counties and towns are supported as well. The holiday programs run in the central Florida counties of Orange, Alachua, Bradford, Citrus, Osceola, Dixie, Gilchrist, Lafayette, Lake, Levy, Marion, Sumter, Pasco, Seminole, and Union.

Providing food, gifts, and toys at Christmas is the priority, however the agencies may also serve free meals at Thanksgiving and Easter too. Some of the resources can include turkeys, gift baskets, free bags of groceries, or free gift cards for shopping.. The assistance provided at Christmas is much more extensive as the goal is to ensure all children, no matter the family’s income, have a present to open. Many of the senior citizens and the elderly in Orlando Florida can have a home visit too. Or look into charities that are feeding the homeless meals.

Exchange Club Yellow Umbrella

The agency may have free Thanksgiving Baskets, Christmas Baskets, Holiday Gift/Food Drive and also provide for Volunteer Opportunities. It is an Adopt a Family program.

Peace Lutheran Church

Partners with the Salvation Army in Orlando and Marion County to provide free toys, gifts, meals, and more to low income families. They have toys for children in addition to a holiday meal that the family can "shop" for at no cost. Only existing clients of this Marion County Florida charity can get Christmas help. Call to donate gifts and toys for children, infants, and the less fortunate. The items are then given for free to families in poverty as well as the homeless that apply.

Adopt-a-child For Christmas

The non-profit and the volunteers that participate helps provide Christmas toys and gifts for children in families in need because of unemployment, illness or other hardships. Call to request an application.

Salvation Army
Thanksgiving and Christmas meals are served. Also runs gift and toys programs such as Angel Tree and others. There are dozens of centers in central Florida, Orange County, Orlando, Lake County and other places. Get free holiday meals (ham, turkey, desserts), games or toys for children, new presents, clothes and more. They also hold holiday events for the low-income, unemployed and struggling. There are many churches that are part of this agency. They help the poor, seniors, single mothers, and others at the holidays and year round. Programs include free Christmas clothes, gifts, toys for children and meals. Some applicants can also get a free box of groceries and ingredients passed out for preparing a Christmas or Thanksgiving meal.

Forest Evangelical Lutheran Church

Provides free Christmas and Thanksgiving Baskets and more. Volunteers and others can contribute gifts, toys, and present to children and really the entire family.

Shady Hills United Methodist Church

Supports the immediate community. People can receive free boxes full of holiday food for their families. The elderly and children are always a focus.

The Toys for Tots program is located across the region, including in Orange, Osceola, Gilchrist, Pasco, Seminole, and Sumter County. Charities work with Marine Corp to provide free toys and gifts to children and those that are struggling. Kids, infants, teens get new, unwrapped Christmas gift (toys, clothes, educational items, money, etc.). Some of the agencies that operate the program are below.

Orange County Mayor’s Toy Drive
They hand out free Christmas toys to kids from age 0 to 18. Each years thousands of children, teens and others in Orlando and the county get Christmas presents. Dial 211. There may be action figures, Barbie dolls, toy trucks, Legos, sneakers, arts and crafts and so much more - based on donations.

Nathaniel's Hope

Kids with special needs can get presents, food, attend Thanksgiving or Christmas celebrations and more.

Seminole County Sheriff's Office
They run a "Christmas Village" Toy programs for kids from the community. There may be thousands of toys passed out each year, based on donations. STEM items, books crafts, sproting goods, basketballs, dolls and more. Call (407) 665-6880.

Lake County only - Firefighter's Charity Alliance of Central Florida

Income qualified residents from the county can "shop" with their kids for the toys they want. It is based on donations. The charity tries to help as many children as possible, but applications are needed with proof of income.
