Broward County Florida Homeless Shelters, Transitional Housing, and Emergency Housing Options

If you are homeless or facing eviction in Broward County Florida, there are emergency shelters, transitional housing programs, and support services available. This guide is broken down by region - North, Central, and South Broward - because we know how difficult it is to get across the county if you don't have reliable transportation.

Many homeless shelters in the county require referrals through the coordinated intake system before someone can receive a place to stay. Due to this, one of the first calls to make is to the Broward County Homeless Helpline. You’ll find a mix of large emergency shelters, transitional housing for people in recovery, and specific programs for veterans or families with children.

  • NOTE: Many programs below serve only certain populations, such as families with children, youth, veterans, or individuals with medical or behavioral health conditions. Always call ahead before visiting a shelter because bed availability and general capacity changes frequently. If you are facing eviction and need immediate financial help, see Broward County organizations that help with rent.

Important: The Broward County Homeless Helpline

Before attempting to walk into most shelters in Broward County, individuals and families must contact the Homeless Helpline. This is the single point of entry for the county’s Coordinated Assessment System. Staff will assess your situation and provide referrals to the appropriate shelter or housing program based on availability. Phone: (954) 563-4357. Hours: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM Daily
