Free clothing closets, school supplies, and household goods in Augusta-Richmond region.

Families have a number of places to turn to for free clothes, household supplies, back to school items and supplies as well as other basic needs assistance in the Richmond County Georgia region as well as nearby towns and cities. Free clothing closets operate in the counties of Burke, Warren, Columbia, Emanuel, Wilkes, Glascock, Jefferson, Jenkins, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, and Taliaferro. Low income families may receive free clothes, back to school supplies, furniture and related items while other more moderate income can shop at a thrift store.

The items available at these non-profit centers and churches are wide ranging. Receive free work clothing, baby supplies, household goods and more. Seasonal type items may be distributed too when possible. This can include free Christmas assistance as well as items during the school year, such as backpacks and uniforms for students and teenagers. The lowest income and people faced with a crisis may apply for emergency assistance. Get help including clothing, lodging, food, rent and utility bill assistance. There are also free counseling services, and referrals to other comprehensive crisis centers in counties such as Jefferson or Lincoln. Baby items, such as diapers and formula, may be distributed. There is also an annual back to school supply drive, in which students can be given pens, backpacks, shoes, and other supplies.
