While the demand for this is high, and funds are limited, tenants in a crisis receive monetary aid that partially covers unpaid rent payments or utility bills. Various organizations provide financial assistance or cash grants at most once per year, and there is of course no guarantee of any type of monetary aid.

One exception is many organizations do not offer financial assistance for utility bills in default. Wilderness Community Church does refer clients to other humanitarian agencies in the community, and there may be resources such as LIHEAP which may help in these cases.
