Help with Medical Bills

Society of St. Vincent de Paul Wheeling West Virginia area assistance programs.

The main regional Society of Saint Vincent de Paul parish is in Wheeling West Virginia. The faith based charity sells low cost goods from a thrift store, can provide free food or furniture, has limited emergency financial help to pay bills, as well as other forms of support. All of the assistance for families in counties including Ohio, Hancock, Marshall, or Brooke is based on need, with the St. Vincent assistance going to the poor, low income, unemployed, and vulnerable.

The financial aid, whether for electric bills, housing/rent, medical costs or other bills relies on both donations as well as the sale of goods from the Wheeling West Virginia St. Vincent de Paul thrift store. All resources are limited. In some cases, in a crisis, free clothes, hot meals, or even furniture may be offered as well.

Low cost items or free stuff in Wheeling WV region

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul operates a low cost thrift store. Based on what has been donated from the community, including from Ohio County. The money from the sale is used to pay operating expenses of the volunteer agency as well as to pay bills. Or to give out free vouchers, food, winter clothes, and more.

All sorts of supplies are available at the St. Vincent de Paul Wheeling West Virginia. Between the food pantry, clothing closet/thrift store, and the main office, clients can get help. Whether it is advice, food to feed a family, household supplies, or whatever, then help is available for the Ohio, Marshall and nearby community. Find more information on shopping at thrift stores.

Some of the assistance is so called emergency aid, and this will be financial in nature. While the organization may be able to assist in some cases, in most instances the funding is limited or they give referrals instead. But anyone can ask.

On the other hand, most of the assistance is from the pantry and clothing bank/thrift store. This is where a box of groceries may be given from. Or if the client needs some warm or cool clothing, or maybe some items for their newborn baby, that can be arranged too. Single moms can be given some blankets for their newborns, or maybe a wheelchair can be loaned out to a senior citizen recovering from surgery. So various forms of assistance can be given out by the location.

Additional Society of Saint Vincent assistance programs in Marshall and Ohio County

The Emergency Resource Program works to stabilize existing clients as well as low income families in the region. There may be emergency assistance for short term needs, and the aid will help move people toward self-sufficiency. Anyone applying for a resource needs to go through the internal screening criteria.  The goal is to assist individuals in need by offering their own grants as well as Society of Saint Vincent case managers as well as volunteers will be utilizing a best practice model of assessment.

Whether it is food, job programs, gas vouchers or bus tickets for a job, support can be arranged. In some instances, additional needs may be identified through the internal screening process that could result in a referral to Society of Saint Vincent partner agencies. As there are a number of other churches or charities in the community that may offer a needed service.
