Free holiday and Christmas assistance Westchester County

Find dozens of charities in Westchester County that may be able to help low income families by passing out free Christmas toys, Thanksgiving turkey dinners, presents, gifts and more. Some of the programs are run by churches and others by charitable non-profit organizations, including free Toys for Tots, Adopt a Family and the Salvation Army Angel Tree. Whether it is a hot meal at Thanksgiving, or a small Christmas toy or piece of clothing for a child, the agencies do their best to meet the ever increasing needs in the Westchester County community.

The registration dates and processes vary by charity. But the application period for holiday assistance programs will normally begin in the fall or summer months. Gifts are provided on a first come and served basis based on donation levels. Many single mothers, elderly people, and low-income families can get holiday food boxes, Christmas presents, winter coats, decorations and more for the holidays. These Christmas programs would not run with contributions from the community.

It tends to be easier to get a meal during a holiday, such as on Thanksgiving. Xmas Toys, while available, tend to be more limited in Westchester County. But low income parents can seek them from a charity, or inquire into other support services such as gift cards, winter coats, games, and other un-wrapped presents.
