Westchester County free holiday and Christmas assistance.
When it comes to assistance at the holidays, there are dozens of charities in Westchester County that may be able to help low income families. Some of the programs are run by churches and others by non-profit organizations. Whether it is a hot meal at Thanksgiving, or a small Christmas toy or piece of clothing for a child, the agencies do their best to meet the ever increasing needs in the Westchester community.
The registration dates and processes vary by charity. But the application period will normally begin in the fall or summer months. Gifts are provided on a first come and served basis based on donation levels. These Christmas programs would not run with contributions from the community.
It tends to be easier to get a meal during a holiday, such as on Thanksgiving. Toys, while available, tend to be more limited in Westchester County. But low income parents can seek them from a charity, or inquire into other support services such as gift cards, winter coats, games, and other un-wrapped presents.
