Catholic Community Services assistance programs Weber County and Ogden.

The poor, low income, immigrants, single moms and others who are struggling can get emergency financial help as well as free stuff, such as clothes, food, baby items, school supplies and more from the Catholic Community Services in Ogden Utah. The Weber County charity known as Catholic Community Services includes Saint Vincent de Paul and churches in the region. They partner together to help the working poor, homeless, and struggling/vulnerable.

The Catholic Services and SVDP offer several different free material and financial assistance programs. There may be (if funding is available) a little money to pay utility bills or rent to stop homelessness. There is also the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall for free hot meals as well as volunteer opportunities – even cooking classes. The SVDP St. Martha Baby project gives out free infant formula, diapers, Similac and more and Catholic Community Services helps refugees and immigrants in Weber County.

Free basic needs, food, baby supplies and more from Catholic Community Services

There are a few Nutrition Assistance Programs for low-income households, the homeless, and people in crisis. The Weber County Catholic Community Services Emergency Food Pantry has a multiple day supplies of groceries to income-qualified Weber County residents or those facing a crisis, such as unemployed. Thousands of clients,  including many single parents, get free food or personal hygiene supplies.

St. Vincent de Paul in Ogden has a soup kitchen, which is also a dining hall. There will be bread, small meals, cakes, bagels and more for the homeless or families living in poverty. Food is offered due to donations from supermarkets and bakeries.

Free holiday food baskets are the result of community donations. Volunteers allow the charity to make hundreds of free Thanksgiving as well as Christmas meals possible every November/December.

When seeking food from Catholic Community Services, clients will be advised on the resources. Also, they can may meet with a case worker during each visit to discuss their challenge. They will also learn how to access other resources (whether budgeting, job placement or applications to food stamps) in the community.

 

 

 

Bridging the Gap is for students of all ages in Weber County. St. Vincent de Paul/Catholic Community Services can give them free food to keep them fed over the weekend, and this is the Feeding America backpack program. There are also back to school supplies including clothes, tablet or chrome books, uniforms and more for students of all grades, ethnicities, and religions.

Ogden Catholic Services and St. Vincent financial assistance

Financial help is very limited and not always offered. When funding is available, the assistance may be provided from Catholic Community Services as part of the Emergency Service Network in Weber County. Centers such as Travelers’ Aide, the Ogden Housing Authority, and DHS work together to offer assistance for bills, housing, medical and more to the area’s most vulnerable individuals and families. There are also many referral services, including to utility bill assistance in Utah.

The agencies may offer direct financial assistance to moderate- and low-income families or those in a crisis. Most urgent needs that could lead to a safety issue (such as lack of medications or electricity or rent help to stop homelessness) are covered first using funds. When the money from Catholic Community Services runs out, some people may be given a no-interest loan for paying their bills, which will of course require a repayment plan.

Catholic Community Services immigrant and refugees services

Catholic Community Services and its churches always work to try to help newcomers to the country, Utah, and Oden County. There is low cost (sometimes free) legal advice or assistance for immigrants. Refugees can get access to basic needs such as food, clothing, ESL classes, interpreters or housing. The goal is to help immigrants as well as refugees acclimate and settle into the area.

 

 

 

 

Case workers from Catholic Community Services help immigrants and/or refugees find housing as well as employment. There is support for getting Green cards, identification, and citizenship. They help refugees and even asylum seekers with a resettlement program.
