Southeastern and Coastal Bend Texas free clothes, furniture and school supply assistance.

There are a number of clothing closets and furniture banks that pass out free school supplies, clothes for work, and household items such as furniture and more. Dozens of charities operate in the so called Coastal Bend area of eastern Texas. Numerous non-profits, churches, and charities provide qualified low income families stuff based on donations. There may be free clothes, household goods, diapers, furniture and other seasonal type resources. This can also include free Christmas assistance, gifts, or school supplies.

The centers are in the following counties, including Aransas, Bee, Brooks, Duval, Galveston, Jim Wells, Kennedy, Kleberg, Liberty, Live Oak, McMullen, Corpus Christi, Montgomery, Nueces, Refugio, and San Patricio. Everything from free back to school supplies for kids from K-12 to furniture (beds, appliances, etc.) as well as year round clothing is offered. If one is not near you, then a referral may be offered to a location that is more convenient to you.

While some families facing an emergency can be supported, the fact is the clothing distribution centers mostly rely on donations and volunteers. So if there are not any goods available then you more than likely will not be able to receive any assistance. When possible a clothing closet may offer free clothes, coats, shoes or bookbags for students, and more. Some sites may even have diapers or formula for newborns. The programs vary widely.  Also, the Salvation Army in Texas (listed below as well) also offers help.
