Sonoma County free food pantries.

Residents of Sonoma County California that need help feeding their families can turn to local food pantries or soup kitchens near them. Many of them are non-profits or charities and offer the low income and less fortunate with free items, such as boxes of food, groceries, and hot meals. Or families can contact a center for information or referrals to programs such as CalFresh food stamps or USDA programs. There is also a free referral number at the bottom of the page for more resources.

The hours of the centers vary as does exactly what may be passed out. It is usually recommended to call in advance. However, not only can an approved client maybe get a free bag of groceries, but some of the non-profits can help in other ways as well, such as offering clothing or free holiday meals at Thanksgiving or Christmas. Other resources in Sonoma County such as Emergency Food Assistance Program (EFAP), Meals on Wheels for seniors, government benefit applications and other resources are available.

This is a cooperative effort by volunteers from St. Elizabeth's Church, the Salvation Army service extension unit, Guerneville Community Church and also St. Vincent De Paul society. They offer emergency food baskets to the needy.
