Low income Solano County California families and people with no money can contact a food pantry for assistance. A couple dozen churches, food banks, pantries, and charities operate in the county, including in Fairfield and Vallejo. Call a grocery distribution center near you for information on assistance programs. Most of the food pantries, including drive thru food banks, offer free or low cost groceries, food, meals, and other resources such as  diapers or baby food. The staff also help people apply for Cal-Fresh or an EBT card. The assistance is for individuals and families who live in Solano County, including migrant workers, immigrants and single moms. In addition, some pantries may also run thrift stores which provide kitchen appliances, pots and pans for cooking, and personal hygiene items (such as soap or toilet paper) to residents of Solano County. The charity has a free food pantry and soup kitchen for the low-income in Saolano County. Programs include a thrift store, clothing closet, baby food and supplies, and holiday meals, including at Christmas and Thanksgiving. There will be shelf-stable groceries, turkey dinners, soap or laundry detergent, feminine products and other stuff. Those are just a sampling of the social services and programs offered by the Salvation Army.
