Real Life emergency assistance programs.

The non-profit known as Real Life is one of the county's leading charities and they work to alleviate emergencies for struggling individuals and families across Fayette County Georgia. Short-term financial assistance and social services may be available to clients who have a long-term solution in place.

Programs for bills, employment, food, and basic needs from Real Life

When possible, the organization may help clients avoid utility-service interruption and maintain ownership of their homes or apartments. Financial aid may also be provided for rent payments, food, clothing, gasoline vouchers for a job and other necessary expenses. Real Life offers free food from a pantry and gently used clothing as well.

Much of what people struggling with is related to employment barriers. So Career Help from the agency will provide details on local employment opportunities and resources for interview tips as well as resume preparation. There are classes organized by Real Life on money management, nutrition, spiritual growth and healthy relationships.

Homeless individuals and persons facing imminent eviction can make use of the Real Life's housing programs. The agency aims to help clients across Fayette County transition from homelessness to long-term, affordable and permanent housing. There are also resources around Section 8 to help pay for government affordable apartments and homes. More on Section 8 housing in GA.

Limited financial aid or loans may be paid out. This will be one-time only, and the money can help with rental costs or energy bills. Any funds are at the discretion of the non-profit.

Resources available include emergency homeless shelters and transitional housing units. There will also be intensive case management and emergency rent or deposit assistance, and these are among the available resources. Some additional services include assistance with establishing goals, job placement and vocational opportunities, educational referrals, and budgeting workshops.

Case managers also help families locate decent, affordable housing in towns and cities across Fayette County. Clients may stay in local shelters and transitional housing units during this period, thereby allowing them the opportunity to increase income, improve credit and find long-term solutions. During their stay, social workers meet with individuals on a weekly basis to ensure that goal-oriented progress is being made.

Moreover, the organization provides information on affordable housing units and apartments for low-income senior citizens. This is in addition to other resources noted below. Rent for these housing units and apartments is based upon income level.

Food distribution is another service administered by Real Life. The agency’s pantry features emergency boxes and canned items, while its Mobile Meals service run by Grace Evangelical Church delivers free hot meals to senior citizens and the disabled.

There are also non-perishable food items and snacks to low-income and homeless individuals. Both offer fruits, meats, and other goods on a first come and served basis. One service, known as Daily Bread, will serve hot meals too. Or find other free hot meals near you.

Numerous services are available for senior citizens in Fayette County. Local community centers provide a venue for socialization and activities, and some centers serve free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast on a daily basis. Real Life also coordinates social activities for elderly persons.

Real Life of Fayette County administers free holiday programs to distribute free toys, clothing and other gifts to income-eligible families during the holiday and Christmas season. This relies on donations and volunteers.

As part of the process, community members remove tags from trees placed in public locations and purchase the gifts listed on the tags for children in need, and local companies are also a crucial resource for Christmas program. In addition to gifts, the Real Life provides food baskets and Thanksgiving or Christmas meals to disadvantaged families throughout the holiday season.
