Rental assistance in Monroe and Lenawee County.

Emergency rental assistance and housing programs are available from several sources. Whether the family lives in Monroe County or the  Lenawee region, when in a crisis there are options such as landlord – tenant mediation, government grants to help with rent or security deposits, and other sources of financial aid. Some charity agencies or churches will also help place a family into a new, low income apartment or pay a portion of a security deposit on the new home.

The goal of the resources are to prevent an eviction. While only a portion of the rent may be paid by the government agencies or a non-profit, they will combine those funds with other services. The case managers can help the person apply for section 8 vouchers or offer information on other federal or state of Michigan programs. Or social services may give a client a voucher to pay for a hotel room.

Any family that is struggling with their rent should call a Monroe County agency below for referrals. A waiting list is usually in place.
