Rental and housing assistance Mohave County.

Some charities in the Mohave County region focus on addressing housing needs. Everything from rent or security deposit help to free furniture from St. Vincent, homeless shelters, or legal aid may be offered.  Some of the housing resources are financial in nature (such as money for rent or bills), and some is guidance (including eviction help or section 8).

There are agencies like the Salvation Army which have homeless shelters or emergency rent or utility help. The Mohave Housing Authority is another option too for rent subsidized homes. Or get information on loans, cash aid and there are other programs below.

Resources are limited in Mohave County. If not funds are available for helping with rent or placement into a home, then referrals may be given. More information is below.

Salvation Army Housing Services are for both Mohave County residents in a financial crisis as well as the homeless. There are two locations, one in Kingman, Arizona 86401 (1200 E Andy Devine Ave) and one in Lake Havasu City, AZ (2150 McCulloch Blvd North). Resources are limited, but there may be rent or mortgage help; free motel vouchers; transitional housing or shelter; mortgage or utility help and more. Call (928) 718-2600 or (928) 505-3933 for information on emergency rental or housing programs. Applicants need to have income less than 185% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

Mohave County Community Legal Services helps tenants avoid eviction, deals with housing discrimination, and can help mediate landlord-tenant rent disputes. the free lawyers law firm is at 2701 E Andy Devine Ave #400, Kingman, AZ 86401. Society of St. Vincent de Paul churches in Mohave County can help. Most have basic needs, such as furniture or limited financial help. When it comes to money for paying rent arrears, it is small dollar amount only and is rare. The options include Our Lady of the Lake SVDP at 975 Daytona Ave, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403 (phone 928-680-2874) as well as St. Margaret Mary's at 1691 N Oatman Rd, Bullhead City, Arizona  86442. Veterans and military members have two option. One is Jerry Ambrose Veterans. They help veterans and their families in Mohave County, Housing, car repairs, rent or security deposit help and other financial aid is available. They may also help with moving or storage costs. Cash assistance can also help veterans and the grants can be used for bills, including utility or rent.

The address is 900 Gates Ave and the non-profit is in Kingman, AZ 86401. Phone (928) 377-2487. There is also the Northern Arizona Veterans Resource Center in Bullhead City. Location is 1343 Hancock Rd, Bullhead City, AZ 86442-5909. Call (928) 444-1135.

The community action agency is the Western Area Council of Governments Bullhead City. There may be applications to government grants to stop evictions or foreclosures as well as utility shut-offs. ESG grants can help with rent, mortgages, or weatherization too. Seniors and the disabled can apply. Location is 1984 Hwy. 95, Bullhead City,  86442. Phone (928) 753-3663. Arizona DES Cash Assistance is the welfare (TANF) program, which can help with short term rent. Families (or single adults) can apply for Department of Economic Security for cash aid for rent, job training or other expenses. Mohave County Housing Authority runs section 8 as well as the disabled Supportive Housing Program. There are vouchers or rent subsidized homes as well as apartments.
