Litchfield County food pantries.
Non-profit as well as town run food banks provide assistance to families across Litchfield County. The locations distribute items such as free groceries, clothing, holiday meals, and boxes of food. While the terms and conditions of each pantry will vary, in general they do focus on assisting low income families with children or a senior member of the home.
Many of the food banks, in particular the town run locations, will also be able to help residents of the community apply for government aid. Some of the most common ones in the region include WIC vouchers (or the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) as well as SNAP food stamps. Some of the pantries may also have limited amounts of financial aid for certain living expenses.
Another service often provided will be free holiday meals. This may be a turkey at Thanksgiving or the Litchfield County food banks may offer Christmas meals or gifts. A few of the main distribution centers in the county are below.
