Douglas County Kansas food pantries.

Food banks and pantries in Douglas County provide both groceries and household supplies when possible. They provide the goods to residents that are in need and that can prove it. Note that some of the programs run by the pantries are less strict than others. The bottom line is that the goal is to help feed the less fortunate in the community that are in a true hardship.

The number of times someone can apply for emergency assistance is limited. The food banks will also often require clients to have proof of income as well as proper identification for each household member. Only after this has been done, and other qualifications have been met, may free food be passed out. Or the person may be referred to other resources, such as Meals on Wheels or federal government USDA programs.
