Find where to get free back to school supplies in the Knox County TN area. Several churches, companies and even school districts give students the stuff they need. There will be free backpacks for students, clothes, sneakers and many other goods passed out. Find the main school supply assistance programs in the city of Knoxville and county.

Many of the events are one day only but cover kids in pre-school all the way up to high school. Students will generally be given a free backpack full of school supplies they need for their grade. This means they may get a lunchbox, pens, highlighters, notebooks, binders and more. Many single moms and dads in Knoxville also use these free school supply giveaways to prepare their kids. RIO Revolution Church

Knoxville Area Urban League

They focus on giving out free sneakers, shoes and other supplies to kids. The Knox County non-profit also partners with the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee on the service to give out food, meals and other goods.

Salvation Army of Knox County
The Christian charity has many assistance programs for struggling families, including free stuff ranging from school supplies to summer camps for kids. They help people with no money and the low-income with kids get backpacks, free school clothes or uniforms, and even tech products such as Chromebooks and more. This assistance program is more of “client” choice, meaning the student will pick out the backpack they prefer (based on what is available) and pick and choose the school supplies they want to fill it.

 

 

 

SchoolMania is the major Knox County free school program. It is held one-day per year, usually in July. The mayor’s office holds it in partnership with social service agencies and companies. Free school supplies, notebooks, protractors, books, writing material, clothes and more are passed out to low-income families in Knox County. It is open to students of all grades. Knox County Schools also try to help students prepare for the year. They have a few events each summer with medical or dental screenings, free school supplies and more offered. It is for students in public schools. Check with your local district.
